Journie Conard has played basketball and soccer all four years of high school. Her favorite memory was playing basketball at the state tournament in Pendleton and every post win locker room party the team had.
Journie was named 2nd team all-league in soccer twice, 1st team all-league in soccer twice, and honorable mention all-state her senior year in soccer. As a basketball player she was named 3rd team all-league as a sophomore and 1st team all-league as a junior and senior. Journie has signed a letter of intent to continue playing basketball at Mt. Hood Community College and plans to pursue a major in business.
Journie would like to thank all of her soccer coaches, Emily Anderson, Stephen Anderson, Kristen Chow, Scot Rothery, and Dave Alderton. You all have supported her throughout her high school career and always pushed her to be her best. She would also like to thank her trainers, Ro Contri and Larry Davis for preparing her for many years to be where she is today. She would also like to thank her basketball coaches: Charles McKinney, Miranda Mueller, The Hammond Family, Mary Eckenrode, and Koni Cash for being the best coaches for the past four years and challenging her every day not as a player but also as a person. She would like to give a shout out to her teammates for being the best and for making the funniest memories. Most importantly she’d like to thank her family for being at every game or watching online and contributing countless time & money to her athletic career and for supporting her through it all. She loves you so much and is thankful to have you all in her life. She is truly blessed to have been a Royal Athlete.
Message from the athletic director: Journie, you have had tremendous success in terms of wins, accolades, and personal growth in sports. You were an immediate impact when you came into high school for both soccer and basketball. Your athleticism was something that instantly helpful to your teams. However, the thing that I found most enjoyable about watching you play, was your ability to stay focused on the goal of each contest. You have a great ability to not look past anything but focus on the needs at that moment.
Bible verse chosen for you: Philippians 4:8-9 – Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me-practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
